Delete Account

1. Overview

In accordance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 and global privacy regulations, Budlio provides all users ("Data Principals") with full control over their personal data, including the right to withdraw consent and permanently delete their account and associated data.

This policy details how you can request deletion of your account directly from within the Budlio mobile application, what data is permanently erased, and how residual shared information is handled.

2. How to Delete Your Account

You can delete your Budlio account at any time directly through the app by following these 5 steps:

Open the Budlio App

Launch the Budlio application on your iOS or Android device and ensure you are logged in.

Go to My Account

Tap on the My Account icon from the bottom navigation bar or profile section.

Open Settings

Select the Settings gear icon in your account menu to access account management controls.

Select Delete Account

Scroll down to the account safety options and tap Delete Account.

Confirm Deletion

Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm account termination. Your account and associated personal data will be permanently deleted.

⚠️ Permanent Action

Account deletion is instantaneous and irreversible. Once confirmed, you will immediately lose access to your tracked budgets, custom notification preferences, and subscription split history.

3. Data Retained & Purged

Upon completing the in-app deletion process:

Profile Data: Your name, email address, phone number, and authentication tokens are purged immediately from our active databases.
Financial & Budget Metadata: All custom category budgets, individual subscription logs, payment reminders, and personal spending entries created by you are completely deleted.
Shared Group Subscriptions: For shared group cost splits, your identity is disassociated from active groups. Shared billing records are anonymized so active shared splits for remaining members stay balanced without retaining your personally identifiable information (PII).
System Backups: Residual data stored in secure encrypted backup archives is routinely overwritten and purged within 30 days.

4. Your Rights under the DPDP Act

Under Section 12 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:

Withdraw Consent: Request immediate cessation of personal data processing.
Correction & Erasure: Obtain correction, completion, update, or erasure of personal data that is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was processed.
Grievance Redressal: Access readily available grievance redressal mechanisms regarding personal data obligations.

5. Alternative Deletion Request

If you are unable to access the Budlio mobile app (for example, if you lost access to your device or uninstalled the app), you can submit a manual account deletion request by emailing our privacy team:

Requirements: Please submit your request from the email address registered with your Budlio account so our team can verify your identity prior to processing deletion. Manual requests are processed within 48 business hours.
